The name for several types of abnormalities caused by the malfunction of the sinoatrial node of the heart. Sick sinus syndrome causes a disturbance in the normal heartbeat rhythm. Symptoms include lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, fatigue and chest pain.
