retrograde pyelography

A series of X-rays taken after a special dye has been injected through a urinary catheter. The dye outlines the lining of the bladder, ureters and kidneys on the X-rays. Retrograde pyelography is used to diagnose such conditions as kidney stones and bladder cancer.
