Reiter's syndrome

A chronic form of inflammatory arthritis that affects the eyes, urethra (the tube that drains urine from the bladder to the outside of the body), skin and joints. The cause of Reiter's syndrome is unknown. The condition is most common in sexually active males between ages 20 and 40. Symptoms of Reiter's syndrome include painful urination and abnormal discharge from the penis, pain in the fingers, toes, ankles, knees and hips, mouth ulcers, inflammation of the eye, and scaly skin on the palms, soles, chest, back and scalp.
