purpura

A condition characterized by visible discoloration or bruising of the skin due to hemorrhage (bleeding from damaged blood vessels) into skin tissues, internal organs, mucous membranes or subcutaneous (beneath the skin) tissues. Purpura may have various causes and variations in appearance.
