uterine fibroid

A tumor (an abnormal tissue growth) attached to the wall of the uterus (the pear-shaped muscular organ also known as the womb). Uterine fibroids may cause heavy or prolonged menstrual periods and lower abdominal pain, but they're often without symptoms. Uterine fibroids are typically benign.
